This painting is by an unknown artist from India. Painting on canvas showing scenes from the life of Rama, depicted in four sections, one above the other, on a red background. At the top are the three wives of King Dasaratha, with Sumitra in the middle holding her two sons Lakshmana and Shatrughna, Kaikeyi on the left with her son Bharata, and Kousalya on the right, holding her son Rama. In the second register, King Dasaratha looks at his favoured son Rama in the cradle.
