Gouache painting on paper from a set of eight paintings of deities and processional scenes. The metal image of Vishnu as Ranganatha carried in procession at the great temple at Srirangam. The devotees carry an image of the god as a warrior on horseback. The elephant at the front of the procession carries a banner with an image of Garuda, the bird mount of the god Viṣṇu. Amongst the devotees there are musicians and dancers who perform for the deity.
