View of Udayagiridrug - May 1794

Water-colour drawing by Colin MacKenzie of the view of the fort of Udayagiri in Andhra Pradesh, dated May 1794. Inscribed on front in ink: 'N.' 'View of Udgherry Droog. C. McK. May 1794'; on back in ink: 'North View of Udgherri Droog in the Nellore Circars.'

The fort at Udayagiri, seen in the background in this view, is situated around 600 kilometres from Hyderabad. It was an important citadel because of its inaccessible position atop a steep hill.

Dear RBSI Admin, This is another mix-up of facts by the data-entrants employed by BL. They have mixed this up with the description of Oodhyagherry Fort (Sans./Mal. -Udayagiri) in South Travancore which was fortified by Maharaja Veera Marthanda Varma.

I have a soft-copy of a rare Tamil book Tamil Proverbs published 1896 or so. How do I send it to you?

Balasubramanian Ponnuswami: You could tell us the title of this book... since it might have already been digitized and is readily available at some rare book resources on the Net.
