Kamil Václav Zvelebil (1927 - 2009) was a distinguished Czech scholar in Indian literature and linguistics and held faculty appointments at the University of Chicago, the Collège de France in Paris and the University of Utrecht (among others), where he taught until his retirement in 1992. He is the author of several authoritative volumes on Sanskrit and Tamil studies.

interesting - usually 'vel' - the single edged spear / javelin is the weapon of choice ( represented in paintings, sculptures , even literature) for Murugan - this one is double edged
