Fairly certain there must have been some pond and somebody who jumped across it at some point. :)
Probably a pond at Dondra, Seenigama or Hikkaduwa in Ceylon. From the "Yudha Kand" , the sites of battle preparation of Sugreeva's army ( see -> http://www.stephen-knapp.com/ramayana_sites_in_sri_lanka.htm ).
